Time Lines Rhythm Patterns for Unit 1
Quarter Notes and Rests in 2/4 and 3/4

Improve your rhythm and sight reading skills. Select an image or link below to hear and play along with the quarter note and quarter rest patterns from Unit 1 of Time Lines. These patterns take the Unit 1 rhythm exercises one step further. Each pattern is four measures long and features different combinations of the exercises in this unit. Each video includes an audio example of the pattern as well as the Time Lines color blocks to indicate where the notes and rests are. The video pages also include examples of the sheet music for each pattern. To view and practice all of the patterns, buy Time Lines Book 1 for your instrument.

Remember to clap and count each pattern before playing it. That will help your sense of rhythm and tempo, and it will ensure that you play the notes and rests correctly.
