Time Lines Rhythm Pattern P202
Quarter Notes and Rests in 4/4

Rhythm pattern P202 features combinations of quarter notes and quarter rests in 4/4 time. There are four beats in each measure and the quarter note is equal to one beat. This pattern is four measures long, and it is repeated four times in the audio example. You can buy Time Lines Book 1 and see all of the rhythm exercises, patterns, and melodies.

You will hear a voice count one measure (“1-2-3-4”) after which you will start playing the pattern. Listen carefully to the count-off to enter at the right time. The metronome will sound on every beat for the entire example. The written music is included below, as well as an image of the Time Lines Color Blocks, which show the relative length and placement of every note and rest.
