One and a Half Beat Pickup Notes in 3/4
Time Lines Rhythm Exercise E707

Exercise E707 features one and a half beats of pickup notes in 3/4 time. There are three beats in each measure and the quarter note is equal to one beat. The exercise is two measures long, and it is played two times with a voice counting and two times with no voice counting. You can buy Time Lines Book 1 and see all of the rhythm exercises, patterns, and melodies, as well as the Time Games, in a clearly organized format.

In the video, you will hear a voice count two measures in tempo (“1-and-2-and-3-and-1-and-2-and-3-and”). To play the pickup note accurately, begin playing on the second half of the second beat in the second count-off measure. A magenta line moves across the screen to show where each beat begins, and the Time Lines Color Blocks show the relative length of all the notes and rests. The second time the exercise is played in the video, there is only a metronome click with no counting.
