Half a Beat Pickup Note in 2/4
Rhythm Pattern P708

Rhythm pattern P708 features a half beat pickup note (one eighth note) in 2/4 time. There are two beats in each measure and the quarter note is equal to one beat. This pattern is four measures long, and it is repeated four times in the audio example. During the third time through the recording, the example stops playing, but you should continue to play so you can hear yourself clearly with the metronome. You will hear a voice count two measures (“1-and-2-and-1-and-2-and”). The pickup notes should begin on the second half of the second beat of the second count-off measure. This pattern is played at 66 BPM (beats per minute) on the pitch concert C. In the third time through the pattern, the example sound will stop playing, but you should keep playing during that time so you can hear yourself clearly with the metronome.
